Students, staff, family, and friends gathered for Dudley Sixth’s annual Celebrating Success Awards Evening at Dudley Evolve. The event marks the outstanding individual performance and effort by the class of 2024-25 during their A Level studies.
Throughout the evening, subject tutors honoured former students with awards across a range of A Level subjects. Each recipient was carefully selected by their tutor in recognition of their academic excellence, dedication, and personal growth.
This led to some very heartfelt moments where staff spoke directly to the twenty-three individual winners, explaining how they had chosen them as deserving of the award, often in a field of high achieving peers. Individual outstanding success stories include:
- Student Taran Bougan, who achieved three A* grades in Business A*, Law A* and Criminology A*. Commenting on his time at college, Taran’s tutor commented:
“Through determination, focus, and sheer hard work, Taran transformed his performance by the end of the first year exceeding every expectation achieving the top grade in the Business progress test. I’m incredibly proud to say he has secured a highly competitive degree apprenticeship with Barclays Bank – a remarkable achievement that very few manage to obtain.” - Evie Davies achieved three A grades in History, Geography and Religious Studies and plans to progress to the University of Birmingham. Her tutor commented: “Throughout her A-level studies, she has demonstrated exceptional dedication, perseverance, and a strong passion for the subject. I look forward to seeing the impact Evie will make in the future.”
- Politics student, Maximus Medare, also serves as an inspiration for all students at Dudley Sixth. His tutor told us: “As recently as this year’s mock exams Max received an E grade in Politics. In the following four months, he was determined to work hard and improve, which resulted in him achieving a fantastic A grade on results day. Hard work pays off, if one person can go from an E to an A anything is possible.”
This celebration follows an outstanding A Level Results Day, with Dudley Sixth achieving a 100% overall pass rate in 24 of 28 A level subjects offered at the college. Many of this year’s award winners are now progressing to prestigious universities or embarking on exciting degree Apprenticeships and employment opportunities.
Chief Executive and Principal of Dudley College of Technolgy Diana Martin joined the award winners in their celebrations, commenting on the night she said:
“I am incredibly proud of all our students and their achievements. It is a privilege to celebrate the hard work and perseverance, shown by our A level winners. Their success is a testament to their hard work and the dedication of the staff who supported them throughout their A Level journey.”
Head of Dudley Sixth; Ben France told the crowd that he could not find enough superlatives to describe this year’s student, but went on to describe them as: astonishing, wonderful, marvellous, remarkable and sparkling!
